Welcome to the Athens Wildcats Youth Basketball Association
Developing Skills, Inspiring Passion, and Encouraging Greatness on the Court!
ABOUT US
WELCOME TO THE TEAM
Welcome to the Athens Wildcats Youth Basketball Association (“AWYBA”), the nonprofit organization supporting our students-athletes in 1st through 6th grade withinĀ the Athens Area School District. The AWYBAās mission is to foster and encourage ourĀ student-athletes to engage in youth basketball sporting activities – providing assistance for theĀ development of citizenship, sportsmanship, and adulthood of our players.
Our goal as a Board of Directors is to continue to provide the same great basketball for our Wildcats as in prior seasons, while introducing additional opportunities atĀ affordable costs. AWYBA was formed after recognition of a few key factors in ourĀ ever-changing community – rising costs and its detrimental impact on participation in sportingĀ activities; lack of off-season opportunities without significant monetary investment; and theĀ benefits of a unified organization for both boys and girls.Ā
While sports have a different and personal meaning to each of us, we look forward to our playersĀ learning important life lessons that translate beyond the game – that successĀ is a result of hardĀ work and preparation; thatĀ overcoming adversity requires commitment; and most importantly,Ā that learning to love a game is an unforgettable feeling.
We look forward to working with you and your family to create opportunities to ensure our children are given the tools to succeed in both basketball and in their future… and learn to haveĀ fun while doing so.
